The Beatles Biography And Top Songs

Being from Manchester which is quite close to Liverpool there is some local rivalry (especially between Manchester United F.C. and Liverpool F.

C.) between the two towns and as such I generally support the Manchester bands first, but I think the whole world likes The Beatles even if they won't admit it. The Beatles are the most successful of any bands, ever. I first started listening to The Beatles on the radio and when I was 8 I got A Hard Days Night as a birthday present (by request).

In 2004 Rolling Stone Magazine rated The Beatles #1 on it's list of 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time. The Beatles have influenced so many of todays groups the list would take all day to write. The Beatles formed in the early 1960's and were made up of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Two other members over the years were Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best. In the UK The Beatles have had more than 40 albums, singles, and EP's that have reached number 1. In the USA they have had 20 number 1 albums.

Some of the other achievements The Beatles hold are: The best selling group of all time (according to EMI), 6 diamond selling albums (over 10 million copies), most number 1 albums of any group, fastest selling CD ever (1, sold over 13 million copies in 4 weeks) and the highest amount of weeks in the music charts. Everybody reading this will be able to name multiple Beatles songs off the top of their head, but here are a few of their more popular: A Hard Days Night, Hey Jude, Let It Be, Can't Buy Me Love, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Day tripper and Yellow Submarine. There have been over 25 Beatles albums, some of my favourites being: Please Please Me, A Hard Days Night, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour and Revolver.

Unfortunately we don't have a full cast anymore as John Lennon was assassinated outside the Dakota by Mark David Chapman on December 8th 1980 after signing a copy of Double Fantasy for him the same day. George Harrison died after fighting with cancer on November 29th 2001, his death was reported that lung cancer had metastasized to his brain. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr still perform (although not together) and Ringo has a new album due out soon with his new band, Ringo Starr And His All Starr Band. My Top 10 Beatles Songs are: 01. Paperback Writer 02.

A Hard Day's Night 03. Can't Buy Me Love 04. Ticket To Ride 05. All You Need Is Love 06.

Hey Jude 07. Come Together 08. Day Tripper 09. Let It Be 10. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

My name is Andy I'm 31 and I'm from Manchester, UK I like to read a lot (Discworld, Sci-Fantasy) and listen to music (The Doors, Wu-Tang, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Blondie, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix). I also try to be a skateboarder when I get time and dry weather. Please view and leave comments on my blog which contains lots more music reviews. http://my-top-music-reviews.blogspot.com
